Glass Alcohol Painting
| Alcohol Painted Ceramic Tile (2019) |
I took a short evening class at
on painting glass with alcohol paints hoping to use them on stained glass and glass blowing projects.
Although it is simple, relatively inexpensive, and the colors can be very vibrant; it lacks durability and color fastness.
- The glass is cleaned.
- The paint is applied.
- A protective coating is applied.
These web sites explain it very well.
In class the instructor, Patti emphasized:
- Alcohol must be at least 90% isopropyl alcohol.
- Alcohol is cheaper and can be used instead of blending solution.
However you may note in the picture several completely white dots. This is where paint has flacked off of the ceramic tile. Which leads me to question that advice. I would love to run some experiments.
